【About the role】
You will develop, implement, and execute a global intellectual property strategy for Acepodia. These areas include novel platform development, therapeutic strategies and product development in Acepodia’s cell- and non-cell-based pipelines. Areas of focus preferably relate to platform development and therapeutic application expertise including cell science, biology, molecular biology, conjugation process, manufacturing, and disease treatment related to our business.

You will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of Acepodia’s intellectual property portfolio encompassing patent-related activities from drafting and filing applications worldwide to analyzing patents and preparing freedom-to-operate opinions. This portfolio includes novel platform technologies to therapeutic and product development across both cell-based and non-cell-based pipelines. This role requires a strategic thinker with a strong technical background in areas relevant to our business, including cell science, biology, molecular biology, and biopharmaceutical manufacturing, coupled with deep expertise in patent law and IP management.  You will lead the in-house patent function, potentially managing an in-house patent engineer, and collaborate with external IP counsel to protect and enhance Acepodia’s innovative assets.

【Education /Background】
• A Ph.D. or Master's degree is preferred in a field such as biotechnology, pharmacology, chemistry, cell or molecular biology, bioengineering, or biochemistry, along with technical experience in biotechnology, molecular biology, chemistry, biochemistry, and/or pharmacology.
• Experience is preferred in a law firm drafting patent applications and assisting with the drafting of opinions, as well as performing freedom-to-operate patent searches."


【Responsibilities include but are not limited to】
• Lead the creation, implementation, and continuous refinement of global patent and patent portfolio strategy according to aligned with Acepodia’s overall business objectives and R&D roadmap.
• Provide guidance to R&D, business development, and executive leadership on IP strategy, risks, and opportunities.
• Direct the strategic growth and management of Acepodia's global patent portfolio, proactively identifying and capturing key innovations. Oversee the maintenance and optimization of the existing IP portfolio.
• Work closely with Acepodia’s scientists to identify patentable subject matter.
• Conduct prior art research.
• Search and analyze patents and prepare freedom-to-operate opinions.
• Draft, file and prosecute patent applications worldwide.
• Provide legal advice and counsel to business personnel on a variety of IP related matters including communication with potential business partners.
• Assist with litigation-related matters and challenging/defending patents in opposition, and other forums.



【Position Requirements & Relevant Skills & Experience】
• PhD or MSc degree in biotechnology, pharmacology, chemistry, cell or molecular biology, bioengineering, biochemistry or related field.
• Candidates should have at least 8 years of experience in a law firm or in-house drafting patent applications and assisting with drafting of opinions, as well as performing freedom-to-operate patent searches and literature searches.
• Excellent analytic, legal drafting and oral and written communication skills
• Must have proficiency in English.
